Extraordinary Lives - Clare Conlon

Background

Dr Clare Elizabeth Conlon MBChB, FRCA40 years old; Consultant Anaesthetist; Professional Musician; DJ Queen B; Mother of onePilates and Green Tea Lover.

I first became aware of matcha through my sister (OMGTea founder, Katherine Swift). I am a committed drinker of two cups per day. When packing to go away anywhere - work or holiday, it is the thing I put in the case first - literally! If there ever is a day where I go without, I notice it not because I happen to remember but because I don't feel quite on my game. If I have an event coming up where I'm performing or anything where I need to be on my A game - a cup of matcha just before gives the clear focused mind I need. Not stimulated or hyperactive like caffeine, just calm, focused, confident.

The OMGTea 60 Second Interview

Please provide a short overview of who you are (background, where you live, work, if / why you drink OMGTea or whatever you consider most relevant).

1. What’s your idea of perfect happiness?

My happy place is a blue sky, warm weather, surrounded by family. Aside from that, I feel completely connected to the inner me performing as DJ Queen B.

2. Do you live to work or work to live?

Bit of both. I love my jobs. I thrive on them and they drive me.

3. What one thing are you most passionate about?

Beyond the obvious (family) it’s music.

4. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Raising my son. Yes I do have a medical degree and I am a consultant anaesthetist so I’ve passed many exams. I am also a successful music producer and DJ. So many hoops have been jumped through and hurdles over. But for consistent, sustained decision making and attention when there’s no handbook – It’s raising my son that has to be my greatest achievement. And he is amazing ;)

5. Who’s the person you’d most like to share a cup of matcha with and why?

My sister. Love and laughter.

6. What is the best piece of advice you could give someone?

Trust your gut instinct.

7. If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

To be able to switch the brain on a off. Mine and to do it for others. Like a thought catcher – the unpleasant negative ones.

8. What is your motto?

Never ever give up.
